One of the earliest Fleuss-Siebe, Gorman self-contained diving apparatus
consisted of a double helmet-one within another-spaced apart as shown in
the picturepage, and forming the oxygen container in which the gas was
compressed to about 30 atmospheres. The ori-nasal mask and tube, were
used in conjunction with the helmet. You also find a breastplate of the
helmet, and the CO2 absorbent chambers forming parts of the same
apparatus. The CO2 absorbent consisted of pieces of rubber sponge
saturated with a solution of caustic potash. |
