Information about coming Belgium event Tecnical Diving 24 August 2011

On 12 & 13 november tekdive11 will take place in Ter Elst congres center in Edegem, near Antwerp, Belgium. This international event is going to be all about technical diving! Diving specialists from different countries will give presentations about technical diving. They are all specialists in their respective fields of diving expertise, and they will tell some fascinating stories about their cave and wreck explorations. In 2 rooms, more than 20 lectures will be given with some spectacular film footage and photographs! A presence by the exhibitors will allow the opportunity to consolidate the latest technologies on rebreathers and techdive gear.

The different major technical diving organizations will introduce themselves at the show. Also the collection of antique rebreathers of JW Bech (http://www.therebreathersite.nl) and the regulators of Jeroen Gompelman (http://www.hydrogom.com)  will be able to admire at the show. Finally there is the “meet and greet” dinner on Saturday evening where all the international speakers will be present.

Guest Speakers

Aldo Ferrucci (Italy)

Deep wreck diver

Aldo is one of the most experienced deep wreck divers in the World, with more than 2500 hours on rebreather dives. He is also the regional manager for TDI in Italy and Switzerland. In 2000, he led the ‘Andrea Doria’ expedition off New Jersey. On tekdive, Aldo will lecture on deep wrecks in the Mediterranean.


Erik Wouters (Belgium)

Is one of the most experienced cave divers in Belgium, and he also gives cave dive classes. There are probably no caves in Belgium that Erik hasn’t explored! He logged thousands of dives and on tekdive he will lecture on diving Belgian caves and mines.


Vic Verlinden (Belgium)

Has made dozens of reports on shipwrecks for several international magazines. He also joined several expeditions to dive deep wrecks in Brittany, Ireland and Lebanon. His diving career spans more than 35 years with explorations into Papua New Guinea. Lately he is into deep wreck exploration. On tekdive he will lecture on this subject.


Luigi Cassati (Italiy)

Started diving in 1978 and now is a full cave instructor for SDI-TDI in Italy. He joined more than 20 cave dive expeditions, and this year he was even exploring cave systems in the Philippines. He made more than 70 dives deeper than 140 meter! In different caves. He dived in Russia, Macedonia, Albania and Mexico. For tekdive he will lecture on his most memorable expeditions.


Rich Stevenson (UK)

Was one of the divers on the SS Egypt expedition in 126 meters. He is an active technical diver since the early 90’s, and also dived the Transylvania wreck in 135 meters. He owns deep blue tech, and he’s an Iantd instructor. On tekdive he will lecture on 20 years of deep wreck diving.



Stephan Matthies / Petra Clerx / Peter Brand (Belgium)

Work together as a team ( www.koelakant.be) to edit their fascinating movies about wrecks and caves. They all are GUE divers with much experience in French cave systems. Peter is also responsible and instructor for GUE Belgium. On tekdive they will show their movie about the Jutland battle ( Danmark).


Jacques Le-Lay (Fance)

Is the underwater camera man within the expedition Scyllias team. This this already discovered and identified many wrecks, and are mostly operating around Brittany and Normandy. On tekdive Jaques will present us a movie about a German U-boat discovered a few years ago.


Barry Mc Gill / Ian Lawler (Ierland)

Barry is one of Irelands top technical divers, and discovered many deep wrecks in the atlantic ocean. Together with his team he raised the Trnasylvania’s bell from 135 meters below!

Ian Lawler is the researcher within the team and he is invaluable to find new targets. On tekdive, Barry and Ian will lecture on deep Irish wrecks.


Pim van der Horst (The Netherlands)

As a technical diver, Pim became known by joining many expeditions. He’s also working for Duiken magazine for 10 years for whom he made many reports. On tekdive he will present a film which is about his world record (deep) wreckdive (236m) in Italy.


Sebastiaan Popek (Poland)

Is especially known for his beautiful pictures on Baltic wrecks. He also made the first expedition to the Graf Zeppelin wreck. This wreck is located on 85 meters, in the cold Baltic waters. He will lecture on this and other Baltic wrecks on tekdive.


Emmanuel Feige / Fabrice Couraud (France)

They both are ccr trimix divers with many years of experience. Manu Feige is also author of the book ‘Les trésors engloutis de la baie de Saint-Malo’ in which he describes the most important wrecks around. Fabrice owns his own rebreather training facility. Together they will lecture on diving the Meknes and the Charabdis in the English channel.


Rene Houben (The Netherlands)

Is a professional saturation diver, who dives much in caves in his spare time. This year he will try to push further his record dive of 8825 meter in Pozo Azul along with Rick Stanton. To achieve this, they need a whole team of exceptional cave divers!

         
         
On the fair there will be an exhibition of old and modern rebreathers and breathing regulators. Both Jan Willem Bech and Jeroen Gompelman will show the finest of there collections. Please add this dates in you agenda and be sure you will be there in November. Belgium has the best beers in the world by the way ;))
